"El Shaddai" 18x24 acrylic on canvas

This was the hardest and most fun painting I have ever done. It was the hardest because it was from a vision in someone else's head. My dad got this one and then explained it to me. I sketched it out and took it to him. He showed me what things were different from what I had sketched and then I took it back home and was intimidated to start it for a while. Finally the day came when I knew it was time to try. I still wasn't sure on some of the details but I said a prayer and went for it.
I gave it to my dad for Christmas.
This one stretched me to experiment some and put in to practice some of the techniques I have been learning. I don't have them down perfect but I can see I am improving.
Red Rose 9x12 Acrylic on paper

This is my first attempt at a rose in acrylics. (I could not keep from getting the glare when taking the picture of it.) It turned out better than I expected. You can't work with the acrylics like oils so learning how to get the look I want is taking some experimenting.

Sunflower, 8x10 oil on canvas

I have had more time to paint lately than I expected.  I never thought I could sit down and complete a painting in one sitting.  I am learning not to box myself in when I paint, forget the rules now and then and throw perfection out the window!
This seems to be an adventure in self discovery.

Flower, 6x8 oil on canvas

Fruit, 6x8 oil on canvas

Thought I would try another still life. Not liking the way the pomegranate turned out so much, but I do like the apple.

Pear- 8x10 oil on board
This is my first oil painting in years. I hadn't painted much for the last 5 years and then last year I started using acrylics. I started getting this desire to dig out the oils again. When I smelled the paints and got that familiar, comfortable feeling I realized how much I missed it.
"Strong One" acrylic on canvas

God gave me a vision for this painting about a year ago. It was interesting working on it because it was all from a picture in my head- a new experience for me. I used acrylics- also a new experience for me. I have been playing with acrylics for a year now. Still learning. Always learning.
Orange Rose- 11x14 oil on canvas.
I painted this a few years ago. I love roses. And I love painting with oils.
